Funky fresh
The Rundown:
21 + 25 + 28
Forever 21 necklace - 2005 - ?? cheap (similar)
Tights - no idea
What worked:
This is another one of the outfits I pre-planned. Today was the perfect day to wear it, since I was leading a meeting this afternoon and heading to the Girls on the Grid first anniversary happy hour after work. A faux wrap dress is always a safe option for work (this one is three-quarter sleeve, but it was too cold today to take the blazer off), and booties add an edge. Other than what didn't work below, I loved this outfit and felt awesome, which was a welcome reprieve after yesterday's frump.
What didn't:
Walking in these shoes. I have the inserts with arch support, but I think I need to get something for under the balls of my feet, too. By the end of happy hour my feet were killllling me! And somehow this dress gets shorter and shorter each time I wear it (or the rest of my body just takes more fabric to cover). But with tights and covered up elsewhere, the hemline doesn't look too short.
Quick note re: 30x30 and my normal posting schedule--they might not jive. Blogging outfits daily gets exhausting (who's with me?) so my non-outfit posts may slip in their regularity for a while. I'll try, but I can't make any promises. Just know they're not gone for good--I have months and months of post ideas on the sked.
What is your favorite uncomfortable item to wear? (you know you have one.)

Those booties may be uncomfortable, but they are gorgeous and hot!
ReplyDeleteI feel you. I'm no fashion blogger for sure. I'm on day 3 and it's like whut?! we got to post again haha. I really love your setting for your photos. and you look great despite the discomfort in the heels :)
ReplyDeleteI love your dress! What a fun print!
ReplyDeleteHands down the most uncomfortable thing I usually wear are heels. My most uncomfy pair are some Tory Burch booties that I adore but have a 4+ inch heel. Luckily they are platforms, but still...
Those shoes are hot!
ReplyDeleteMy most uncomfortable thing I wear are my black heels. The shoes are comfortable, but for some reason they stretched, and I now walk out of them, which is not safe or attractive!
I love this look on you! Just enough edge with the booties to give it some kick while looking professional.
ReplyDeleteI know you said these shoes were uncomfortable, but you look like such a rockstar in these photos! I love the way you've accessorized this to turn a fairly simple wrap dress into such a bold look.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the hemline anxiety lately, too -- I've been going through something of a "does everyone in the world wear shorter skirts than me?" phase. How do you draw the line on what's too short for work? Does it depend on whether you're wearing tights?
Damn, Ms. Professional, you sizzle. The booties and the dress and blazer are a heady combo of looking smart and sassy, and classily sexy. Third Wave feminism should look this good.
ReplyDeleteThe booties: major deliciousness. Reading then re-looking at the close up of the booties, I can see how the balls of your feet would take a beating. Definitely could use those ball-pads.
Pretty! I love the look, and once again, the haircut is amazing :)

What a snazzy look! The more fabulous the shoe the more challenging to wear? That shouldn't be the case, but sometimes it seems to be. Good luck on the 30x30!

I very much like this dress
ReplyDeleteWhy is it that the cutest shoes - like those amazing booties - always kill our feet?
ReplyDeletethis is such a cute outfit. I love it!
ReplyDeleteI really like this, and those shoes are fantastic! I'm currently on the hunt for some black or dark gray booties...
ReplyDelete@ beth ellen - thanks!
ReplyDelete@ woodycakes - thanks. Yeah, I mean, I usually have a post go up daily M-F, but since there is a mix of outfits and other posts, I can usually plan some in advance. Not during the 30 tho.
@ eek - Yeah, these are some of my tallest heels (which doesn't help) and they have a slight platform--but I am actually more awkward in platforms than non-platforms! Ugh.
@ erin - Yikes! Be careful!
@ minister of style - thank you!
@ S - the hemline debate is an interesting one. I *try* to keep it hitting mid-knee while standing, but I do think you can get away with something slightly shorter with dark tights. I've been mulling on this for a while and hope to post about it soon, so if you have any thoughts or advice, feel free to shoot me an email!
@ citizen - thanks, love!
@ maria - thanks, hon. I'm really starting to get the hang of this short hair thing! But of course I'm too lazy to go to the stylist more than once every 9 months so it'll just grow out from here :)
@ meredith - sad but true!
@ colleen - thanks--me too! It used to fit better than it does now, but at least it still fits!
@ sal - it's torturous, isn't it?
@ pixie - thank you!
@ jeanna - you know, I don't think I would have ever shopped for my own pair of booties (these were a hand me down), but I do like that they edge up an outfit like nothing else.
Such cute shoes!
