Take two [outfit]

W118 by Walter Baker dress from Off 5th - 2011 - $30 on clearance / Gap blazer - 2005 - $40? / Enzo Angiolini pumps from Piperlime - 2010 - $35 on sale

Just popping in with this outfit since I wore it last week. (More guest posters to come.)

Now this is more of what I had in mind when I bought this dress. It's a little on the short side, but I could see this outfit working great at a casual networking hour or on a date. I've always extolled the leg-elongating magic powers of a knee-length pencil skirt, but this shorter length is pretty flattering, too. Dilemmas, dilemmas.

What is the most flattering skirt length on you? How do you figure?

  2. This outfit is beautiful! I love the contrast of colors, and I don't think the skirt is overly short. :)

  3. Love the dress! I think the length looks great, especially for date night or casual networking as you say. I try to avoid anything below the top of my knees since I don't need any help looking short... And I think a little shorter than knees can be more flattering, especially with knee-high boots - if a little more leg actually shows, I think it makes my legs look longer!

  5. I think you took what could be a fabulous party dress and totally toned it down enough for a work environment. The length looks good to me. I try to balance the length of my skirts at work with whether or not I can comfortably sit in a meeting. I use the same idea to judge if a shirt is too low cut.

  8. love the dress, what a bargain!

i usually wear skirts a little above the knee. i'm on the short side so long skirts (maxis) tend to make me look frumpy. if i wear heels, then i will wear skirts that fall below the knee.

  9. @ Robin - Thanks!

@ Christine - Yeah, it definitely isn't too too short, but it is shorter than a lot of my dresses. Now that I'm running, though, I find I'm eager to show off my legs. I've been working hard! :)

@ Triskelos - That's a great length! So versatile, too.

@ Donna - Yes! I'm so with you on how the shoe affects the length of the skirt. I do think that some maxis (depends on fabric, style, volume) can look really nice on a petite figure. I'm only 5'4 (not really petite but not tall either), and I looooove my maxi dress.
